Restoring Humanity Through Charity…

Restoring Humanity through Charity…

It is so sad to bear witness to how much society has changed. Don’t get me wrong I’m not talking about the changes we have made for the better, rather the changes we have made which causes us to stray away from the morals, values and beliefs we as human beings are supposed to stand for. The more we evolve within this 21st century the more we have become selfish and the more lack of concern we have for others.  When last can any of us say we genuinely helped someone? When last can any of us say, “I did something for someone else without the expectation of personal gain?”Honestly, if you have to stop and think about how long it has been, means it has been too long. Being human does not mean we are a part of humanity. I know these words may seem confusing but let me break it down for you. Being human means we are created and born as ‘Man’ and as ‘Woman’, but humanity is the act of displaying integrity, honesty and loyalty. It is the act of giving of your time, talent or treasure to help those who are less fortunate than us. Humanity is the way we see the world and our ability to influence change in a positive way. There are many ways by which we can display humanity, whether we feed the hungry, visit the sick or clothe the naked. Even taking the time to give a complete stranger a compliment or say good morning/afternoon to someone whom you’ve never met are acts of humanity.  We as human beings need to bring humanity back into the way we live our lives. I say “we” because I too at times have taken for granted how lucky and fortunate I am and have forgotten about those in need of my help. I am not saying we should not think of ourselves, naturally everyone should try to better themselves and at times spoil themselves but we have to take into consideration our neighbors, our brothers and sisters who are in desperate need of our help.  How can any of us in good conscience live our lives focusing primarily on ourselves and bypass the fact that while we live happily others are suffering.  Luke 6:38 says: Give and it will be given to you. Indeed you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands – all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you. Whether you follow the bible or not, this verse simply means by helping others we help ourselves. While it may not help us in a monetary way we are helped through ‘Self-worth’ and it gives us that special feeling knowing we helped someone who needed it.   Now, I am going to end by saying this: together let’s restore humanity to the world. It only takes one person to attempt to make a difference then others will follow.

Would you help restore humanity? Picture
